Remember the mystery message with the Man Ray quote?

Not so mysterious anymore. A trip to the official Stripes website revealed that our favorite rocking duo is…

…selling cameras?

LOMOs, specifically, perfect for lomography, an Austrian commercial trademark/photographing style that emphasizes spontaneous snapshots and optical tomfoolery.

Two different LOMOs are available, the Jack and Meg models respectively, and they go on sale…take a guess, Yorbites. Yes, X XV. October 15.

For those of you with formerly rich and currently dead uncles, you should know that the first 333 customers to purchase both cameras will get a mystery gift. “Golly gee!” I say with utter sincerity.

Seriously, Jack, Meg. Cameras? I’m all for Stripes paraphernalia, but why play the enigma card? Why not just come out with it? Cameras aren’t mystifying, rare or illegal.

Is the Riddler out of work again? Is that it?

The spot for the Stripes’ Anchorage gig has been changed to the George M. Sullivan Sports Arena. Apparently, more space was needed to accommodate all those screaming fans! Don’t worry if you’ve already purchased tickets. They’ll be accepted for GA floor seats.

But that’s not all! New items have been added to the Stripes’ web store: t-shirts featuring a “button horse” (somewhat reminiscent of a similar creature in The Science of Sleep) and a penguin, the Jack & Meg flash drives finally available for international customers and official tablature books for the albums White Blood Cells and Elephant.

I’ve got good news and bad news, Yorbites.

Good news is that this “gatefold” red, special edition 7″ vinyl with “Rag and Bone” on the A-side is included free in an issue of NME.

The bad news? That issue’s from the week of June 5th and, no, you can’t buy a copy from the NME webstore. Trust me. I checked.

However (and a big however), you know that just about all matter in the universe is sold on eBay and there will be people who, for some inexplicable reason, want to part with that record. Click here to find them. Good luck in the ensuing bidding war!
